Auschwitz is to blame: meeting the second generation of holocaust survivors
event type: edu
místo: Old Town Hall, Radnická street 8, Křišťálový sál, Institut Paměti národa

On the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, there will be a discussion with a reading from the newly published Czech translation of Polish reporter Mikołaj Grynberg's book „Obviňuji Osvětim/I Blame Auschwitz.“ The book is composed of interviews with the children of Jewish Holocaust survivors, whom the author went to Israel, New York and Warsaw to meet. It touches the themes of living in the shadow of immense suffering, uncovering family fates, Jewish identity, the pain of losing loved ones and the search for closeness. The reading will be followed by a lecture by psychotherapist Helena Klímová, who will present her experience with second-generation therapy. She will also present the activities of the Raphael Institute and the publications of the Irene Press, which have long been professionally involved in the topic. The books will be available for purchase at the event.
