Discussion with political scientist Irena Kalhousová and religious scholar Aleš Weiss
Following the arrival of the new Netanyahu government in December 2022, which includes radical-extremist parties, Israel found itself in a deep internal political crisis. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis took to the streets to protest out of concern for the future of democracy. What is the cause of this crisis? Who are the main representatives of the proposed changes? How does this internal political crisis affect Israel’s position in the Middle East region? And how does it affect relations between Israel and the US and between Israel and the Jewish diaspora? The debate between Irena Kalhousová, Director of the Herzl Center for Israel Studies at Charles University, and Ales Weiss from the Faculty of Middle Eastern and North African Studies at Charles University will be moderated by Melika Yildiz.
