|location:||Brno Main Train Station, 5th platform|
The departure of Transport F from Platform 5 of Brno Main Train Station on the morning of November 16, 1941, stands as a tragic and profoundly significant historical milestone. This initial transport marked the beginning of a series of thirteen deportations that ultimately resulted in the tragic demise of the majority of Brno’s Jewish population, abruptly ending their long-standing coexistence with Czech and German residents of the city. To honor this event and draw connections to current wartime events in Ukraine, a multimedia exhibition will be installed directly at the main railway station. This exhibition highlights the enduring links between past and present, characterized by the grim and urgent themes of war, human suffering and dignity, travel, death, hope, and the symbol of the train.
