Since the middle of the 19th century, Brno industrialists and entrepreneurs began to notice the attractiveness of the Pisárky valley, offering beautiful natural scenery at a sufficient distance from the city centre. Thus, villa buildings and representative tenement houses gradually began to appear on Hlinky and Veslařská Streets, many of them belonging to businessmen of Jewish origin. To this day, for example, a pair of villas belonging to August and Felix Löw-Beer, the villa of the textile industrialist Felix Engelsmann, Jan Bloch or the tenement house of the Teltscher family can still be found on Hlinky. Located directly on Hlinky Street, the exhibition introduces not only the building history of the individual houses, but especially the stories and fates of their former inhabitants. The tour will be guided by the exhibiton´s curator Michal Doležel.
