At the turn of the 1920s and 1930s, a number of new buildings with a commercial ground floor were built in the center of Brno, and in many older buildings, the portals and shop interiors underwent drastic changes for the purpose of modernization. In addition to the large glass display windows, the big-city character of the shops was also enhanced by their neon lighting. During the walk with architectural historian Zuzana Ragulová, both examples of good practice and sensitive reconstruction, as well as portals that have been completely rebuilt or have already disappeared, will be presented.
