OPEN HOUSE BRNO: Agudas Achim Synagogue

The Open House Brno festival shows the Moravian capital as you don't know it, and through guided tours it gives visitors access to places they don't normally get to. Built in 1935-1936, the functionalist Agudas Achim synagogue is a unique example of modern Jewish sacred architecture and is currently the only synagogue in Moravia and Silesia that serves the spiritual purposes of the Jewish community. The tour will focus on the fundamental moments of Brno's Jewish history, the main traditions and customs of Judaism, as well as the dramatic life story of the building's author Otto Eisler.
