Yom HaShoah – free public Reading of the Names of the Victims of Holocaust
event type: Community
místo: Moravské náměstí in front of the Scala cinema

Holocaust and Heroism Day, in Hebrew "Yom HaShoah ve ha-gvura" (יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה) is a day when we commemorate the memory of the victims of the Holocaust through memorial ceremonies. Its date was set following the start of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on 14 Nisan/19 April 1943. It is possible to join the event at any time during its course.

Everyone who comes will receive a list of several names with brief personal details. The names can then be read out at their discretion, spoken aloud and thus return the forgotten victims of human hatred, violence and injustice to our consciousness and our common history. Join the marathon public reading of the names of the victims, which will take place simultaneously in many other places in the Czech Republic, and contribute to making respect for the victims of racial persecution part of the cultural tradition of the majority society.

The event is organized by the Jewish Community of Brno and is held under the auspices of the Mayor of the Statutory City of Brno.
